Aid for Humansdorp

The area of Humansdorp in the Eastern Cape has been poverty striken for a long time, and the situation has worsened due to the AIDS epidemic. The local Storehouse Generation Ministries Church approached the SA Red Cross Johannesburg to assist different families by giving them clothing and food as we can see in the picture. Pastor Dallas Sphar sent church members Ashwell and Nicolette Goliath to collect the donations from the SA Red Cross Johannesburg. We are proud to have been of assistance.

Discovery Life, saving lives

We appreiciate an effort by Ms Cathy Maguire from Dicovery Life , she collected items from her colligues and friends to help disaster victims. Her sole effort won't be forgotten by the receipients as it will help them in this time of need.

Nedbank does it again

The Nedbank Head Office did us proud by donating a truckful of clothes and food, for Xenophobia survivors. All this was a contribution from their staff, that are comitted to serving people with dignity. Their contribution will do wonders to the receipients.
We are proud of their work, it is within us to distribute the goods to the survivors with honour and pride.We thank Nedbank staff for their contribution, may they be blessed in every possible way.

Sharing warmth

The SA Red Cross Johannesburg in conjunction with the SA Red Cross Regional office(Germiston) Distributed blankets and clothing to the Homeless. Not only did our fellow people get blankets and clothing, they also had a nice warm cup of soup.We helped them escape the cruel cold front that swept through the country. It was more like Christmas in the middle of winter. The homeless around Johannesburg had a Saturday to remember so did our staff and volunteers. They also enjoyed helping out as usual. We are still bound to continue serving the community whole heartedly. A warm thank you to the staff and volunteers who made this effort a reality. Not only was the soup warm, the whole event was heart warming too.

Certicates at last for participants

The Ekhurhuleni Department of Education in partnership with the SA Red Cross Society Joahnnesburg, held Home Nursing and First Aid Courses for community members in the East Rand. The whole process was coordinated by Ms Bridgette Litchfield and her senior staff members. Mr Nathan Banda (SARCS)was there at the awarding of the certificates to successful candidates.

Nedbank gives to the poor

The Nedbank Foundation did wonders this winter. They donated matresses and blankets for disater victims. It is a great organisational effort to see to it that poor people get all the help. It is a way of paying back to the community that makes them a great Bank. We at the SA Red Cross Johannesburg would like to thank them on behalf of thousands of people who will benefit from this generous donation, we wish them more success in the future. We encourage them to keep giving to different courses of humanitarian aid.

More food for Alexandra disaster survivors

The SA Red Cross Society Johannesburg gave more food to the Alexander community. The food will be distributed by SARCS volunteers to survivors of different disasters in the area. This winter we have been called to assist many residents in different areas due to shack fires and other disasters. The occupants of these shacks are always trying to escape the winter chill, instead they end up burning their shacks. The SARCS Johannesburg is always there to answer to their calls for much needed help.
